Sad news as David Beckham’s dream to play his 4th world cup looks like it may not become reality. He tore his achilles tendom on sunday the 14th March while playing in an AC Milan game in which they won 1-0.
He has flown to finland in order to get surgery but the future for his world cup hopes seems grim. The timing is as bad as it gets says one football pundit who believes that it will take Beckham 4-6 months to get fit and this wouldn’t be fully fit just back to training in which time when he is fully fit the world cup will all be but over. He had wanted to be in the squad but this had meant the chances of it are close to zero, people have even speculated that this could be the end to his career as the 34 year old is getting older and de to return to LA Galaxy.
He hoped to be part of England’s World Cup squad but that now seems unlikely – and there has even been speculation that Beckham’s career could be over.
Support for David to play has never been greater as he played at Old Trafford. He sported a lovely pair of football boots which you can see in the photo to the left which had the flag of both italy in which the team he plays for (AC Milan) are from and England in which he plays for. Along with this his childrens names. The support was seen by the huge crowd response and chants that the Man utd fans were heard to sing.
Will he be in the squad ? we hope so but more than likely he will miss it.
